1.We refer to the Bersih 2.0 Press Release dated 25-6-2021 titled Sack or Keep Campaign.

2.PKR Johor take note of this simulation exercise that would kick off in P158 Tebrau, a Parliament constituency won by us in the last General Election until our Member of Parliament defected to support the current Perikatan Nasional Government in February this year.

3.For us, YB Steven Choong, the incumbent Tebrau MP defection tantamount to a betrayal of the people’s mandate and greatly disappoints many.

4.We fully support this great initiative by Bersih 2.0, which seek not only to restore the voters faith in our democracy and electoral systems which has been eroded by such irresponsible action by not only the Tebrau MP but many others since the Sheraton Move, but also serve as a warning mechanism to any elected representatives that any treacherous intention on their part will be met with severe consequences from their constituents.

5.As such we are fully committed to this exercise and will mobilize our party members to assist in the same. We hope this Simulated Recall Election exercise in Tebrau will be one of many to comes and it success can be replicated and even adopted by future governments as a mean to hold elected representatives accountable to their voters and ultimately provide greater stability to our political landscape.
